Rotating bezel, touch bezel, and bezel-less UX

Galaxy Wearables include devices with three types of bezels: a rotating bezel, a touch bezel, and without a bezel (bezel-less). The user interface for a Galaxy Wearable must be designed to support all three device types.

On a device with a rotating bezel, the bezel is a physical controller that rotates along the outer edge of the display and the user interface reacts to the rotation of the bezel. The user interacts with the device by rotating the bezel or touching the screen.

Rotating bezel

On a device with a touch bezel, the user interacts with the bezel by swiping on the outer edge of the screen, without interfering with the main screen. Designs for these devices must consider usability, since the touch bezel can be disabled by the user.

On a device without a bezel, the user interacts with the device by touching the screen (touch interaction).

Touch bezel

When interactions are different among the bezel types, the differences are provided in the documentation. For example, how a user uses a rotary selector differs between a watch with a bezel (rotating or touch) and a watch without a bezel. The differences are provided in the rotary selector section.
