Ecosystem for Advanced Professional Video Codec

Samsung's Advanced Professional Video (APV) Codec is a new video codec for prosumers who do not want to compromise on quality while enjoying the convenience of capturing video using Smartphones. This codec was developed to address the unique needs of the growing eco-system for cinematic-quality video recording and post-production. In this session, we will present an overview of the APV codec and describe additional new features that enable the use of APV for emerging professional video applications such as stereoscopic 3D video capture and high dynamic range video capture. To facilitate easy access of APV, it is being standardized through IETF and its software implementation is released through ASWF. This has enabled creation of an end-to-end APV ecosystem that includes the Android Platform, video editing tools, content providers, and Mobile/PC chip vendors. We will present how such an ecosystem enables consumers to easily use APV for their professional video applications.
